That paintbrush analogy is a wonderful illustration...I've run into it before somewhere along the way and it is good to be reminded of it again. But what rings most clearly in my heart were these words of yours:

"The power of beauty, in its simplest and purest sense, to speak audibly of the presence of Jesus Christ in our lives. Beauty is of Him, from Him, for Him. Beauty has a language that transcends even the finest words, that soars above our sweetest experiences in this life and whispers to our souls of what heaven will be."

That's what I love most about the Lord. He is ablaze in beauty and it is everywhere.

"From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Ephesians 4:16

The picture of myself as a tiny paintbrush in the Lord's hands gives me no end of delight!

My daughter and I were just talking about God working in our lives even within limitations. I love the idea of being a "fine paintbrush" for Him. :)

Beautiful... as usual.

Beatrix Potter's small, yet beautiful, contribution to art makes me think of the woman in Mark 14. When she poured the quality perfume on Jesus' feet, some questioned,

"Why has this perfume been wasted?"

But Jesus answered, "She has done what she could..."

Thanks for reminding me of the beauty and significance of "doing what I can."

I love the analogy of the paint roller and watercolor paintbrush.

I also love how you said that Beatrix Potter was brave enough to be good at what she was good at. I am going to ponder that...

My joy is to do what Edie did for you and your friends. However it is not always received well, it seems to make some of my friends uncomfortable. I find this sad and also makes me feel stifled, as if I shouldn't do these things...I appreciate how you are able to receive the gift your sister in law was offering to you and your friends! I think I need to be brave enough to be good at what I am good at.

Blessings
