Once in Royal David's City is my all time favorite Advent/Christmas song. My daughter's prep school does (or did, she no longer attends) the traditional L&C and the choirmaster would train several boys then at the last moment point to one to do the solo. I get chills waiting for the organ to rumble below our feet while the alto just rings out that verse a capella. Thanks for the great post. OOOhhh.
